7/14/10. Left Lincoln City in the sunshine at 7 AM. 47 degrees, but dressed for it. This is the famous Otis Cafe. I wasn't going to stop, but....didn't take time for coffee this morning, so decided to get a cup and warm up. Then, smelled the food...and you know the rest of the story.
This place has been in business since 1937. Several different owners, but the building has pretty much stayed the same. The waitress of today has worked here 25 years. The current owner was cooking today, he's been here 23 years, and owned it for 14. They must be doing something right. It was early, by the time I left the place was packed. As it usually is.
They do have several specialty breakfasts, but today I just stuck with sausage patty and eggs. The black molasses and whole wheat bread was fresh baked this morning. Thick and heavy. It was served with a cup of home made salsa too, which was delicious. They used to put out home made jam, but now it's just the regular old restaurant stuff. It was a good way to start the day.
